Something to consider

This world could be a test to see who has the courage to stand up to an evil fiend even if the fiend is believed to be unbeatable. The actions attributed to the biblical god are rather plainly evil. A lot of people make excuses for him simply because of an ability to throw his weight around. Suppose this world is such a test. Who has the courage to stand on principle? And who cops out with claims like "there must be a good reason if he does it"?

That would be great as long as there were no Ten Commandments and the Bible was totally rewritten to reflect what you are saying.

I think Aerosmith made a song about it.

Dream on, my friend

Ah, but that's just it. I find that the bible describes a wicked god. Any god who would command people to murder (and it is murder) all the inhabitants of a land because the god was "giving" the land to the new people is wicked.

So you obviously don't believe in Capitol punishment. If someone brutally raped your Mom or pregnant Sister then they should only get some prison time. Got it.

Well, that was a complete non sequitur. A closer analogy would be saying that if someone slaughtered your family because "god" was giving him their home, you would approve. After all, there is no indication that the indigenous people had done anything to the Israelis (or, for that matter, knew they existed.) Oh, I know what your saying. Those people weren't kissing your god's rear-end and you think that that's the same thing as rape. The fact is that you cannot find any evidence that these people (assuming the story is even true) did anything other than live on the land that the Israelis wanted for themselves.

Pvblivs,

"The fact is that you cannot find any evidence that these people (assuming the story is even true) did anything other than live on the land that the Israelis wanted for themselves."

You should run for president in Iran. At least your viewpoints are the same as the current one.

If you think you can find any evidence that those people had done anything amiss, feel free to present it. In the biblical story (which has no relation to the present day) the Israelis were the invaders.

Evidence, please. I am arguing against annihalating a population, not for it. Or does "the same" only mean not believing that everything done by Israel is automatically correct? That appears to be the limit of the similarity.
This is an important point. I am not endorsing the extermination of the Jewish people or even removing them from their current position. I am criticizing a god who would command such an extermination because the land he was giving his "chosen people" was already occupied. He may as well have been telling them to rape babies. (I know you say that you would oppose any god who commanded that. But I suspect that you say that only because you made sure the biblical god didn't command that explicitly, first.) There is another passage where the biblical god tells people to kill all the male children and all the women who have known man (from a land they were conquering) but to keep the virgins for themselves.
