Salt of the earth

It amazes me that any people would want to think of themselves as "salt of the earth." Consider. Salting the earth was a highly destructive practice that it impossible to grow crops on the salted land for years. Even if we take it as spiritual symbolism, such a person must be spiritually destructive. It seems to me that certain religions carry direct warnings that they are harmful.

Remember it doesn't matter what we do on this earth. We are not what matters. We are to preach Christ. Even the most destructive person, still preaching Christ, is still a good thing (Philippians 1:15-18)

Also keep in mind that Holland has the most beautiful flowers and plants. The rich soil that was once at the bottom of that salty ocean. I can't say its quite ugly on the cost of California either. The salt tolerant flowers and plants are gorgeous.

I guess we are to be the salt of the earth and only salt tolerant people will be around to enjoy our company. Like the wicked witch of the east, non-believers shrivel around us. :7)

Hmmm.... I haven't checked my blog in a while. My observation is that "preaching christ" is itself destructive and a bad thing. That a book which endorses wickedness would call it a good thing is no surprise.

Pvblivs,

My observation is that "preaching christ" (sic) is itself destructive and a bad thing.

I completely agree. Preaching Christ to very wicked and evil people is indeed very destructively bad for those people. It brings them the news of their future if they choose not to change their ways and give up on that evil path. You will have full knowledge of your fate if you continue on that wicked path.

I don't view that as destructive or bad though, obviously. Only a friend will tell their friend that they stink. I consider it lovingly rebuking.
